Iranian Kurdish ensemble to give concert in memory of their mother
TEHRAN,Oct.3(MNA)-- The Iranian Kurdish ensemble Kamkars will be giving concerts in memory of their deceased mother at Tehran International Permanent Fairgrounds from October 6 to 8.
In a press conference held here on Saturday at Iran’s House of Music, band leader Hushang Kamkar explained that the performance is comprised of both Kurdish and Persian songs.
The concerts named “Zamaneh” contain the piece “Mother” composed by Arsalan (Kamkar). The concerts’ title refers to the name of the Kamkars’ mother, Zamaneh Bahramian, a violinist who trained a family of musicians. She died in 2005.
Arsalan said that he has made use of the central theme of the music from Ali Hatami’s acclaimed movie “Mother” for the composition. “Mother” (1989) film music was composed by Arsalan and performed by the Kamkars.
Solo performances by Ardavan and Pashang (the other two brothers of Hushang) are also included in the performance, he added.
Bijan Kamkar also said that the Kamkars Ensemble have always been with people and have always tried to feature the ongoing events in the country through their music.
“We are a team that aims to preserve our traditions and our music,” he remarked.
An album of symphonic poems of Khorramshahr and Halabja composed by Hushang Kamkar, featuring the bravery of the inhabitants of the two cities during the Iran-Iraq war, was introduced last week.
“I believe composing a new melody does not necessarily mean innovation. We can make use of any type of techniques in our music, but the interests of the audiences must be of prime importance,” Hushang said.
Bijan expressed his criticism over the shortage of music halls across Tehran compared with the great number of sports clubs and stadiums.
