Russia’s Olympic medalist appointed Iran shot put coach
TEHRAN, Oct.4(MNA) -- Iran appointed Russia’s Olympic medalist Svetlana Krachevskaya as shot put coach on Monday.
Krachevskaya, who claimed a silver medal in the 1980 Summer Olympics held in Moscow, has been appointed as the Iranian coach for an undisclosed fee.
“We hope that Krachevskaya prepares our female athletes to get good results in the championships, especially help them to qualify for the Olympics,” Iran’s Athletic Federation acting president Mohammad-Reza Kazemi Ashtiani said.
He adds, “Leila Rajabi, who is capable to book a berth in the Olympics, has been training without a coach for a long time.”
The 67-year-old coach has been trainer of Natalia Lisowska, who won the gold medal at the Seoul 1988 Olympic Games.
