Iranian culture minister meets with Azeri president

TEHRAN,Oct.5(MNA) -- Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini met with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku to discuss bilateral cultural relations.

Hosseini, at the head of an Iranian delegation, arrived in Baku on Monday morning to attend the Iranian Cultural Festival in Azerbaijan.

The minister said that President Aliyev expressed his happiness in hosting the event and that he is interested in cultural activities.

The two cities of Baku and Ganja are hosting the festival and programs are divided between them. Baku is hosting the event for three days from October 3 to 5 and Ganja for two days on October 6 and 7.

The minister also met with Azerbaijani Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfaz Garayev.

He said that the Azerbaijan Cultural Festival, which was held in Tehran and Tabriz last year, was a good beginning for expansion of cultural relations.

Pointing to the high potentials of both countries in history, culture and religion, Hosseini stressed that relations between the artists, poets, and cinematic figures of the two countries have increased.

Garayev also expressed hope the two countries would expand their relations. He said that the Azerbaijan Cultural Festival held in Iran was a great achievement and that they are happy to host the Iranian festival.

They both hoped to continue the cultural events for the next years.
