MALAYSIA SENDS CONDOLENCES TO SOMALIA OVER MOGADISHU BLAST
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia on Thursday conveyed its condolences and sympathies to the Transitional Federal Government in Somalia and the Somali people over the suicide bombing which caused numerous losses of lives in central Mogadishu two days ago.
"Malaysia regrets that such an incident occurred a time when the Somali people, TFG and the international community are working in concert to bring peace to Somalia," Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said in a statement on Thursday.
He reiterated Malaysia's continued support towards efforts in achieving peace and rebuilding Somalia.
"Malaysia hopes that the warring factions in Somalia will focus their efforts towards national reconciliation and remain committed to the Somalia Roadmap," he said.
No Malaysians were injured or killed in the incident. Media reports said more than 70 people were killed in the blast.
