POS MALAYSIA TO ISSUE SPECIAL EDITION STAMPS
KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's post services company, Pos
Malaysia, will issue a special edition of stamps featuring post boxes used
throughout Malaysia's history from the 19th century until now, and First Day
Cover in conjunction with the World Postal Day and Stamp Week 2011.
Stamp Week is the highlight of Pos Malaysia's stamp and philatetic
activities for this year and will be held at the Main Concourse, LG Floor, of
the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Centre, for seven days starting Oct 10.
Pos Malaysia Stamp and Philately Unit head Yasmin Ramli said the post
boxes depicted in the stamps and stamp booklet shows the changes in the designs
of the post boxes from the time of the British administration until the era of
independence and leading to the current Malaysian period, as well as the
interesting varieties of post boxes used.
"The new collection of stamps and philatetic items on Post Boxes comprises
of five stamp designs in strips of five, First Day Cover, Stamp Booklet and
folders," she said.
The total of stamps per sheet is 20 pieces which measure's at 30mmx50mm in
size and are all in RM1 denominations.
Meanwhile, the Stamp Booklet feature's five stamp designs in two strips per
booklet and a special feature for the booklet is that stamps are printed on
OBA Free Self Adhesive 246 gsm paper.
Furthermore, the First Day Cover can be purchased for 50 sen at all post
offices nationwide, while Folders are only available at selected post offices at
RM5.50 each.
At the Stamp Week, there will be a special Personalised Stamps (SetemKu)
design where visitors can purchase their own personalised stamps at RM20 per
sheet comprising eight pieces of stamps at 35 sen and 65 sen denominations
respectively. (US$1=RM3.17)
