Iranian pop singers to give benefit concerts for thespian Bahrami
TEHRAN,Oct.8(MNA) – Iranian pop singers will be giving concerts this week to raise funds for the treatment of the young Iranian stage actor Majid Bahrami who is suffering from blood cancer.
Bahrami, who is suffering from a type of blood cancer (T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), was sent to Germany in August to receive further treatment.
Arranged by the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, pop singers Mohsen Yeganeh, Benyamin Bahadori and Reza Sadeqi will be giving the concerts for three nights in Tehran’s Milad Tower on October, 11, 12 and 13.
“The entire treatment of Bahrami requires 5 billion rials (about 470,000$), part of which was collected in previous benefit programs and we are hoping to collect more,” advisor of deputy culture minister Abbas Azimi told the Persian service of Fars News Agency on Friday.
Bahrami was playing in the play “Wonder of Creatures” by Reza Servati last year when he found out about his disease and the play has been on hold since.
A group of artists arranged a photo expo of theatrical performances in July to help raise funds for Bahrami’s treatment at the Iranian Artists Forum.
