Iran coach calls Bahrain a dangerous opponent

TEHRAN, Oct.9(MNA) -- Iran football coach Carlos Queiroz said Bahrain is a dangerous opponent but he has faith in his team's ability to defeat them.

“Bahrain is a dangerous team with good players, however, we know the way the Bahrainis play and want to beat them in our home game,” Carlos Queiroz said in Tehran on Saturday.

He added, “I am satisfied the way my players trained during the past days and we are well-prepared to defeat them.”

Iran will take on Bahrain on Tuesday in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers at Tehran’s Azadi Stadium.

The Portuguese stated, "There is never a guarantee that you will certainly beat your rivals, but I am sure that we will win (in this game).”

He went on to say that he has faith in his players and hopes the Iranians will support their team against the visitors.

Last month, Iran drew with Qatar in Group E of the 2014 World Cup qualifier.

The Iranian coach noted, “During a match, you can perhaps create 17 chances but do not take advantage of them and sometimes you create an opportunity and take it.”

He advised, “The fans must be patient. Eusebio, Ronaldo and Ali Daei were not born stars. They have been given the chance to prove themselves and the fans must keep faith in their players.”
