Iranian children’s artists and authors gather at IAF

TEHRAN,Oct.10(MNA)-- TV program producers, authors and illustrators who exalt children with their works gathered at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) to honor four children artists and authors.

The ceremony, which was held at the Shahnaz Hall of the forum, was attended by the director of IAF Majid Sarsangi and Tehran deputy mayor for cultural and social affairs Mohammad-Hadi Ayazi.

Children’s author Hushang Moradi Kermani, children’s filmmaker Marzieh Borumand, Iraj Tahmasb, Bijan Birang, Farhad Tohidi, and children’s book illustrator Ebrahim Haqiqi were among the participants.

“Unfortunately many people and officials think that works created for children are cheap and childish however, these works are the first literary artistic experiences of the next generation,” Sarsangi mentioned during the ceremony.

He said that four artists and authors who created works for children would be honored at the ceremony. The children’s book illustrator Mehrnush Masumian was the first artist who was honored at the ceremony.

Afterward, children’s program producer and script writer Bijan Birang went on stage and talked about the world of children.

“When we educate our children it means that we construct their future memories. It is an honor for the children’s artist that we do not distance ourselves from our childhood memories,” he said.

He said that all people gathered in the hall are happy for children when they are happy and feel sad for children who are distanced from happiness.

“We do need to understand colors, beliefs and differences, since God’s creation is beautiful for these discrepancies and we should also discover children’s talent,” he said.

After that, Razi Hirmandi, the translator of Shell Silver Stein’s works into Persian, was honored at the ceremony.

“I would have worked harder if I had known they were going to honor me,” he said jokingly.

Program producer Iraj Tahmasb was the next artist who was honored at the ceremony.

“I believe that each child is God’s masterpiece and whatever we do is really not that much,” he said.

Afterward, Ayazi spoke about the importance of children in urban management saying that two exclusive parks for children are under construction in Tehran.

Popular children’s and young adults’ author Hushang Moradi was also honored at the ceremony.
