Iran criticizes West’s double standards on democracy, human rights
MOSCOW, Oct.11 (MNA) -- Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast roundly criticized the West for adopting double-standard policies on the fundamental issues like democracy.
Mehmanparast made the remarks during a meeting with Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander K. Lukashevich in Moscow on Monday.
He also explained Iran’s stance toward regional and international developments and strongly criticized the selective approach of the Western countries toward democracy, human rights, and war on terrorism.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral ties, the promotion of media cooperation, and the latest developments in the region.
Mehmanparast also invited his Russian counterpart to pay a reciprocal visit to Iran to pursue the implementation of agreements signed between the two countries.
Welcoming the invitation, Lukashevich said Tehran and Moscow should utilize their great potential to consolidate ties in all areas.
