Media should demand implementation of Outlook Plan from officials: MNA CEO
TEHRAN, Oct. 12(MNA) - A conference on media and economic jihad was held at the IRIB University in Tehran on Tuesday. A number of current and former officials, including Iran`s Expediency Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaii and former Majlis speaker Gholam Ali Haddad-Adel, participated in the event.
Reza Moghadasi, the director general of the Mehr News Agency and Tehran Times , said ,"media can demand a proper implementation of the 20-Year Outlook Plan from officials".
Moghadasi said enlightening the public opinion about the importance of the outlook plan is the most important duty of the media.
He said the designation of the current year (March 2011-March 2012) as the year of “economic jihad” provided an opportunity for serious efforts in the economic area.
Like the subsidy reform plan, the public opinion should be mobilized for the realization of the outlook plan, Moqaddasi opined.
Mohsen Rezaii, the Expediency Council secretary, also said it is too early to air judgment about the performance of the government in implementing the outlook plan. However, he added, “In certain areas we have had good progresses.”
For example, Rezaii said, in the defense industry and satellite launching the plans are proceeding according to the plan but in terms of employment, economic growth and inflation rate the government is lagging behind the outlook plan.
The Expediency Council secretary expressed hope that the sitting government will compensate for these shortcomings in the remaining two years of its term.
