Iran’s House of Music Celebration honors female musicians

TEHRAN,Oct.15(MNA) -- Iran’s House of Music Celebration selected its winners in its 12th edition during a ceremony at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall on October 12, honoring female musicians.

A special section was dedicated to female musicians of Iran in which nine female singers and musicians were called on stage to be honored including singer Pari Zanganeh, Sudabeh Shams, and Fatemeh Vaezi as well as pianist Ofelia Parto.

The winners were awarded in the two sections of the best album and the best book on music this year.

The ceremony began with a brief speech delivered by secretary of the celebration Hamidreza Nurbakhsh in which he explained the winners were selected out of 100 albums and 130 books.

He noted that the celebration was divided into four nights, each dedicated to a prominent deceased master; vocalist Mohammad Nuri, tar and setar virtuoso and music teacher Ata Janguk, and opera singer Evelyn Baghcheban.

Nurbakhsh also expressed his thanks to the musicians who cooperated in the program with their numerous concerts during the program.

The ceremony continued with handing the awards to the winners.

The best educational book award was handed to writer Alireza Mashayekhi for his book “Culture of Composition”.

Hossein Meysami received the best academic book award for “Music of Safavid Era”.

The best translation award went to Morad Bardaqchi for his research on the 15th century Iranian theoretician and musician Abdolqader Maraghi.

“Fine Wine” by composer Hushang Farahani and vocalist Salar Aqili got the best traditional music album award.

Vahid Taj gained the best overture award for the album “Strange House” and the best classical music album award went to “For the Pavement Which Takes Me to You” by composer Fardin Khalatbari.
