Tehran laborers hold demo in support of Wall St. protests
TEHRAN, Oct.27(MNA) – A number of laborers held a demonstration outside the Swiss Embassy in Tehran on Wednesday to express solidarity with the protests on Wall Street.
Iran and the United States do not have diplomatic relations, and the Swiss Embassy in Tehran hosts the U.S. Interests Section in Iran.
The demonstrators chanted slogans in support of the Wall Street protesters and denounced the crackdown on the protests.
They also called on the U.S. government to restore the rights of the country’s laborers and the poor.
At the end of the event, the demonstrators issued a statement calling on the United Nations and international human rights organizations to investigate crackdowns in the U.S. and the condition of workers in the country.
In the statement, the workers also advised the U.S. government to take the measures necessary to release those arrested.
