Iran keen to promote cooperation with Tunisia: Ahmadinejad

TEHRAN, Oct. 31(MNA) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Tunisian nation and government are on the path to prosperity and the Islamic Republic is keen to cooperate to accelerate their progress. Ahmadinejad made the remarks during a meeting with the new Tunisian ambassador to Iran which was held in Tehran on Sunday. He also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the Tunisian people finally achieved national self-determination and held elections successfully. He called Tehran-Tunis ties historical and said that the Muslim people of the two countries have always enjoyed good relations and today the ties should be cemented. Iran sees no obstacle in the way of developing ties between the two countries in all spheres, Ahmadinejad said, adding that cementing bilateral ties would be in favor of both nations as well as other regional countries. During the meeting, the new Tunisian ambassador also submitted a copy of his credentials to President Ahmadinejad and discussed regional developments and bilateral ties. He described Iran as a country with rich culture and civilization and said that the country has played a major role in regional developments and undoubtedly it will be one of the most influential among Islamic nations.
