OPEC Secretary General visits Iran

TEHRAN,Nov.1 — OPEC's Secretary General Abdullah Salem El Badri arrived in Tehran on Monday for attending the 15th Iran’s Conference and Exhibition of Technology & Innovation in Oil and Gas Industry, the Mehr News Agency reported. El Badri traveled Iran upon the invitation of Iranian Oil Minister Rostam Qasemi, who chairs the OPEC presidency. El Badri met Iranian oil minister yesterday afternoon; the two officials discussed the latest developments in the global oil market. According to the report, Leonid Bokhanovsky, secretary general of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), was also scheduled to arrive in Iran for attending the conference. The 15th Conference and Exhibition of Technology & Innovation in Oil and Gas Industry is to be held in Tehran, (November 1-2, 2011). In addition to El Badri and Bokhanovsky, some other top energy experts will participate in the conference, including Yahya Maroofi is Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Jeff Butler from Manchester Business School, and Noé van Hulst, Secretary General, International Energy Forum. The conference is Organized and hosted by IIES (Institute for International Energy Studies) under the auspices of Ministry of Oil. The conference aims to bring together researchers, scientists, engineers, and scholar students to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas, and research results about all aspects of innovation & technology management with focus on Oil & Gas Industry. The conference format includes facilitated themed sessions for academic and practitioner presentations together with discussion panels and workshops. Additionally, the conference will provide excellent networking opportunities together with a taste of local culture.
