Iran`s Majlis votes against MP Motahhari’s resignation

TEHRAN, Nov. 2 (MNA) - Majlis on Wednesday voted against the resignation of vocal MP Ali Motahhari. Of 198 votes cast, 155 MPs voted against resignation, 31 for, and 12 abstained. Voting took place after six lawmakers presented speeches against Motahhari’s resignation. Motahhari tendered his resignation to the Majlis Presiding Board on October 12 in protest at the fact that the board did not confirm the receipt of a motion to summon President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to the parliament to answer lawmakers’ questions.
