Iran`s Assembly of Experts chairman is hopeful RF will join principlists’ unity committee

TEHRAN, Nov. 2 (MNA) – Assembly of Experts Chairman Ayatollah Mohammad Reza Mahdavi Kani, who has taken the leadership of mainstream principlists in the run-up for the parliamentary election, announced on Tuesday that he has recently met with some members of the Islamic Revolution Resistance Front . “We have recently held talks and it was agreed that they attend (the meetings of the principlists’ unity committee). God willing, they will appear (in the meetings of the committee). We are hopeful,” Mahdavi Kani said. The principlists’ unity committee has been set up to foster unity among principlists for the parliamentary election, which will be held on March 2, 2012. But the Resistance Front (RF), as a principlist heavyweight, has not attended the meetings of the committee in protest at the make-up of the committee, stymieing principlists’ efforts with the adoption of a non-cooperative approach.
