German Companies Share Best Practices At EduGerMa 2011
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The 1st Malaysian-German Conference of
Education and Training held here on Thursday provided an insight into human
resource development through German education and training in Malaysia.
EduGerMa 2011, organised by the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, offered a unique dialogue platform, providing discussions on trends,
ideas and examples of best practices by experts from both countries.
It aimed at creating stronger visibility of the benefits of the German
education system and at spurring the Malaysian side to adopt these practices in
the national education system.
The bilateral conference was combined with a Job Exchange Fair where
participating German companies presented employment and training
opportunities.
German ambassador to Malaysia Dr Gunter Gruber said they were happy that
Malaysia showed interest in their education and training system as it had proven
to be beneficial for the technical industry and the country.
"If we can contribute a bit to improve the standards in Malaysia, my
business people will be very happy," he told reporters, here, on Thursday.
He added that many German companies planning to invest in Malaysia were
often disappointed with the lack of qualified manpower at all levels.
Human Resources Minister Dr S.Subramaniam, who opened the conference, hoped
it could strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the area of
education and training.
"Such cooperation is especially needed in the technical and vocational
fields so that we can benefit from the German experience and raise our work
quality to the highest level," he said.
EduGerMa 2011 saw the attendance of about 200 participants including
panellists from international companies operating in Malaysia and
representatives of Malaysian government authorities and institutions.
Among the companies and institutions which participated in the Job Exchange
Fair were Allianz (M) Bhd, B.Braun Medical Industries Sdn Bhd, German-Malaysian
Institute (GMI), Infineon Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd, DHL IT Services Malaysia,
Mercedez Benz (M) Sdn Bhd and Schenker Logistics (M) Sdn Bhd.
