Iran determined to cooperate with new Libya: Iranian foreign minister

TEHRAN, Nov. 5 (MNA) – Iran`s Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said that the Islamic Republic is keen to share its experiences in various areas with the post-Gaddafi government in Libya.
Salehi made the remarks during a meeting with Mustafa Abdul Jalil, the chairman of the National Transitional Council (NTC) of Libya, in Benghazi on Thursday.
Tehran is ready to cooperate with Tripoli in all spheres without any expectation, the Iranian minister stated.
Salehi, who was the first Iranian official to visit Libya after the pro-democracy uprisings erupted in the country on February 15, conveyed the messages of congratulation sent by the Supreme Leader and the president to the Muslim nation of Libya.
Salehi said now that the Gaddafi regime has been toppled it is hoped the Libyan nation and government would maintain their unity and remain vigilant about seditious attempts to confiscate their revolution.
During his remarks, Salehi also reiterated that Iran officially recognizes the new Libyan government and is determined to promote mutual cooperation in all areas.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Salehi commented on Imam Musa al-Sadr’s case and said it is of high importance to Iranian and other regional nations.
He called on the new Libyan government to cooperate with Iran and help solve al-Sadr’s case.
In August 1978, al-Sadr departed for Libya with two companions to meet officials of Muammar Gaddafi’s government. They were never heard from again, and many believe they met with foul play at the hands of Gaddafi.
