Filmmaker scouting for buyers for what he calls T20 films

Panaji (Goa, India) Nov 25 (PTI) A Mumbai-based filmmaker who has come up with what he calls T20 films is scouting for buyers at the film bazaar being held here alongside the ongoing International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2011. The filmmaker Dillzan Wadia has been propagating the concept of 20-minute films at the film bazar which he equates with the shorter T-20 matches of cricket. "Earlier, there were five-day test matches (in cricket). After that we had one-day-matches and now it's time for T-20. Like that we are now into T-20 of Indian Cinema," Wadia told PTI at the bazaar organised by the National Films Development Corporation (NFDC). Two 20-minute films directed by him, 'Hassan' and 'Karma', both with the anti-terrorism plots, are ready for release in January. Wadia expressed confidence about people accepting the 20-minute film format stating that the audience now does not have much time to spend in the theatres. "There will be a market for 20-25 minute films," said Wadia, who is a graduate from London Film and Television Academy. Wadia who has his roots in the western Indian state of Gujarat said that he has already booked ten theatres in his state in January for his short films. while 'Hassan' is produced by Rakesh Singh and 'Karma' by Russy Wadia. Both the films are shot on VFX format with special visual effects. NFDC's Film Bazaar, a concept that has been growing alongside IFFI, has film distributors from across the country and abroad participating in various knowledge sessions and programmes. Wadia said that "he has been in the bazaar to look out for buyers for his new-concept films and also to make people aware about them." Internationally, a short film is not a new concept. According to information available on Internet, a short film is any film not long enough to be considered a feature film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits". PTI
