Abdullah bin Zayed holds more bilateral meetings in New York

New York, Sept. 28, 2008 (WAM) - Foreign Minister, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, held here Friday on the fringe of his participation in the 63rd UN General Assembly, a series of meetings with a number of his counterparts attending the UN General Assembly, during which they discussed bilateral relations and regional issues on the agenda of the Assembly.

Sheikh Abdullah met with the Foreign Minister of Sierra Leone, Zainab Bangoura, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Vladimir Nurov, Vietnam's Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pham Gia Khiem, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, Francophonie and Regional Integration of the Republic of Gabon, Laure Olga Gondjout and deputy foreign minister of Canada.

Sheikh Abdullah also met with NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, and discussed with him their countries' stance on regional security issues, including security development in the Middle East region, Afghanistan and Pakistan. They also discussed ways to boost joint cooperation.

They shared views on areas of cooperation between the NATO and other regional and international organisations, like the Arab League and the UN.
