Luang Namtha: Thai businessmen visits to estimate road No. R3 construction
(KPL) A businessmen delegation of Thailand led by Mr. Pamoun Sithivong, Chairman of Trade Chamber of Thailand paid a working visit on 25 September the northern province of Luangnamtha to estimate the progress of the road No. R3 construction project.
Road No.R3 being constructed to link between Laos and regional countries and to promote co-operation, especially in the field of tourism, trade transportation and investment.
During the visit, the Thai delegation has paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Phimmasone Lueangkhamma, Governor of Luangnamtha province where he praised and highly valued the visit to his province by Thai delegation as a contribution to strengthen the relation of friendship and co-operation between Laos and Thailand, particularly in the trade sector.
Mr. Phimmasone also briefed his guest about the situation of the social-economic development in the province, which is constantly developed especially some infrastructure.
The R3 highway construction project which covered the areas of Laos, Thailand and Yunnan province of China is aimed at facilitating exchange and development between and among the three countries, reducing transport costs in the project influence area, and increasing the efficiency of movement of goods and passengers. Enhancing the mobility of rural communities is intended to support rural development, increase the earnings of low-income groups and alleviate poverty. The project would provide employment opportunities for women in areas along the route and promote tourism.
