Standing Deputy Prime Minister visits Oudomsay

(KPL) Mr. Somsavat Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister accompanied with ministers of public health and public work and transport on 28 September visited the northern province of Oudomsay to inspect the flooded areas due to the heavy rain on 25-26 September.
Mr. Somsavat and his delegation was warmly received by the provincial administration and briefed about the situation of flooding from Mr. Khampheng Chithavong, head of provincial task force for flooding prevention.
Mr. Khampheng disclosed that 33 villages with 790 household were flooded during the two day heavy rain in the chief town of Say district.
He said that 40 houses was destroyed, one person was killed and one person was seriously wound.Mr. Khampheng also said that the flood also damaged 400 ha of cultivation areas and a number of irrigation system was destroyed.
The first estimate of damage was around 10 billion kip.
This was the third time for Oudomsay province to suffer from flooding.
