What we need is determination and patience in EU process, says EU Minister Bagis

ISTANBUL (A.A) - December 25, 2011 - Turkish Minister for European Union (EU) Affairs and Chief Negotiator, Egemen Bagis, said Sunday that what Turkey needed most in its EU process was determination and patience. Speaking at a meeting held by the Surici Group in Istanbul, Bagis said that the reforms being made in Turkey were made for Turkey and not just the Europeans. We make reforms for our own values. We do not want to see individuals busy with what people wear, eat, think or read in Turkey, Bagis said. Europe is going through a transformation process. Turkey will have important roles during this transformation process. We not only have the youngest population in Europe but also the strongest military. Turkey is a key country for Europe to reach energy sources. We are ahead of many European countries with our industry. As such, we can not stop. We will continue to walk on our path. We are in a position to continue Turkey's EU process with common sense, logic and patience, Bagis also said.
