Pirates Fail To Capture Iran Oil Tanker

Tehran, Feb 6, IRNA - Deputy Navy commander admiral Mahmoud Mousavi said on Monday that thanks to the vigilance of Iranian naval forces attempt by pirates aboard 35 boats to capture an Iranian oil tanker were thwarted. On Monday afternoon a group of pirates in vicinity of Babol Mandab Strait attacked an Iranian oil tanker but with timely interference of an Iranian warship the pirates were forced to flee under heavy artillery fire of the Iranian naval vessel, he said. The Iranian oil tanker continued its path without suffering any damage./end
