Half a million Muslims benefit from RCA's Iftar programme in Ramadan

Jerusalem, Oct. 5, 2008 (WAM) - The "Al-Mawaed Al-Ramadaniya" breakfast programme organised by the UAE Red Crescent Authority (RCA) throughout the holy month of Ramadan, provided "Iftar" meal for more than half a million Muslims in many Palestinian towns and refugee camps. According to supervisors of the programme in the Palestinian territories, from the Jerusalem Awqaf Department and Palestine Social Affairs Ministry, tens of thousands of food parcels were distributed and "Iftar" meal tables set for Muslims throughout the holy month of Ramadan, adding that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, including families, individuals and students, from ten districts, about a hundred villages and 30 refugee camps, in both the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, benefited from the programme.

He put the total of the beneficiaries to more than 500,000, including 150,000 Muslims, who got their "Iftar" and "Suhur" meals at the Al-Aqsa Mosque throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
