The Generous Hands Initiative" team makes a second visit to Eritrea
"Abu Dhabi, Oct. 5, 2008 (WAM) -- "The Generous Hands Initiative" team has started its second visit this year to Eritrea to provide treatment, including conducting delicate surgery operations, to a number of children from poor families. The move is part of The Generous Hands Initiative's objectives of providing healthcare assistance to poor patients in various parts of the world.
"The Generous Hands Initiative" team consists of a group of paediatricians and specialists in paediatric surgeries in the UAE hospitals and others from some reputable hospitals abroad.
"The Generous Hands Initiative" was launched under the auspices of and support from Her Highness Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the Family Development Foundation and Chairperson of the General Women's Union and under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the UAE Red Crescent Authority, to provide badly needed medical treatment to the sick from the poor segment of the society in various parts of the world.
The initiative also seeks to set up under one umbrella an international team of Arab and foreign medical doctors and specialists in the Middle East region, to voluntarily help alleviate the sufferings of the sick who cannot pay for medical treatment.
Upon their arrival in the Eritrean capital, Asmara, members of the team were received by officials from the Eritrean Ministry of Health and other concerned authorities. The team later started conducting surgery operations on children suffering from various delicate medical cases.
