UAE, Canada eye stronger economic relations
Abu Dhabi, Oct 8, 2008 (WAM) - UAE Minister of Foreign Trade Sheikha Lubna Al Qasimi and Ontario Ministry of Economic Development Sandra Pupatello yesterday discussed ways to further promote economic and trade relations between the UAE and Canada.
At the meeting, which took place in Abu Dhabi, Sheikha Lubna said UAE and Canada are keen on further promoting their trade and economic relations.
UAE, she said, is Canada's biggest trade partner in the region with Dh 2.086 billion in non-oil trade between them in 2006.
Forty Canadian oil companies are operating in the UAE out of a total of 115.
The Canadian Minister expressed her country's interest in tapping the UAE economic growth to further boost cooperation between Canada and the Gulf region.
