US top envoy meets Thai DPM

BANGKOK, March 27 (TNA) - US Ambassador to Thailand Kristie Anne Kenney met Thai Deputy Prime Minister Yuthasak Sasiprapa here Tuesday, during which she confirmed strong cooperation between Washington and Bangkok on intelligence and anti-terrorist attempts. Kenney told journalists after the meeting that she congratulated General Yuthasak on being appointed as a Thai deputy prime minister and discussed bilateral cooperation between the United States and Thailand, especially on the exchange of information related to important crime for the sake of public safety, noting that both Washington and Bangkok have cooperated greatly on intelligence. General Yuthasak also told the journalists that the US top envoy delivered Washington’s gratitude for close bilateral cooperation between the United States and Thailand, especially on responses to bomb blasts on Sukhimvit 71 Road in Bangkok last month and on strict control on visitors. The deputy premier acknowledged that the US side remains concerned that Thailand is on Tier 2 in its human trafficking watch list because if it moved to Tier 3, it would heavily affect Thailand's international relations as the Kingdom could face international boycotts and he, therefore, insisted that the Thai government will solve the problem seriously. The deputy premier said he, meanwhile, asked the United States to take careful consideration before issuing any travel advisory against Thailand in the future, as the warning could affect the Thai tourism.
