Georgia Welcomes Iranian Tourists

Tehran, May 16, IRNA – Georgian Ambassador to Tehran Giorgi Janjgava said on Tuesday that Georgia is ready to welcome Iranian tourists. Addressing a specialized meeting on presence of Iranian businessmen in Georgia, he said some 60,000 Iranian tourists visited Georgia in 2011 and the figure is expected to reach 100,000 in the current year. Some 35,000 Iranian nationals have open accounts in Georgian banks, he said. Some Iranians are now among landlords in the country, he pointed out. The number of weekly flights between Tehran and Tbilisi stands at between six and nine, he said. Free lands, rendering infrastructure services and granting 15-year tax exemption are among supportive policies for investors in Georgia, he said./end
