QSA Takes Part in Rio+20 Conference

Doha, June 18 (QNA) - Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA) takes part in Rio+20, United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development due to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 20-22, 2012. At the Rio+20 Conference, world leaders, along with thousands of participants from governments, the private sector, NGOs and other groups, will come together to shape how we can reduce poverty, advance social equity and ensure environmental protection on an ever more crowded planet to get to the future we want. The Conference will focus on two themes of " A green economy in the context of sustainable development poverty eradication " and " The institutional framework for sustainable development." QSA is implementing a water statistics and accounts system as part of the System of Integrated Environmental and Economic Accounting (SEEA), the authority said in a statement. The first version of this system is scheduled to be published during the first quarter of the next year, according to the statement. QSA was established in 2007 as an independent agency to provide trusted high-quality statistical information about Qatar. (QNA)
