QFCHT Organizes Awareness Campaign

Doha, June 19 (QNA) - The Qatar Foundation For Combating Human Trafficking (QFCHT) organized Tuesday a drug Awareness campaign, titled "Use of Drugs, Prohibited by law" at the worker s health center in the industrial area in the context of its efforts to raise the community s awareness on human Trafficking and to convey its message in this concern via the planned schemes and programs. Around 280 workers of companies and firms attended the event. QFCHT s legal researcher, Mohammad Fathy Saafan introduced the Human Trafficking issue to the attendees and defined it to them according to the United Nation s Protocol that prohibits and penalizes human trafficking actions especially when it comes to women and children. He underlined the foundation s efforts to confront this issue and its holistic goals and specializations in this regard as well as encouraged the workers to remain in contact with the Foundation via email, Hot-line contacts, or its office. Meanwhile, Qatar Red crescent s, Dr Shafiq Al Mehbashy spoke about the side effects of various types of drugs and alcohol. He drew the workers attention that their work mainly relies on their health and well-being thus, should stay away from drugs and alcohol. For his part, Anwar Mohammad Omar from the drug control department at the ministry of interior addressed the legal actions taken against drug trading or taking drugs that carry penalties up to 20-25 years imprisonment.
