Foreign Ministry Felicitates Morsi’s Election As Egypt President

Tehran, June 25, IRNA – Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Ministry in a statement felicitated the victory of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate, Mohammed Morsi in that country’s presidential election. Head of Egypt's high electoral committee on Sunday announced that Mosri by gaining 51.73 percent of the votes won the presidential race and became Egypt's president. Many Egyptians rallied behind Morsi as a chance to finally rid the country of the old regime. The election result put an end to more than a year of mass protests and rising crime and economic woes after the 18-day revolution that forced the former dictator Hosni Mubarak to step down on Feb. 11, 2011. Sunday's announcement finally determined that Egypt will be ruled by a member of the long-suppressed political party and make a break with six decades of military rule./end
