Dasmunsi shows signs of improvement
New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI) Union Information and
Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi, admitted at the
All India Institute of Medical Science (A.I.I.M.S.) here,
showed some signs of improvement this evening and doctors put
him off the ventilator support.
"We are trying to put him on and off ventilator since
morning. By evening he was completely off the ventilator
support. He is still under close observation and condition
remains critical," Dr V.K. Behl, Head of Cardiology,
A.I.I.M.S. told PTI.
The X-ray of his chest showed some signs of
improvement in the lung condition.
"His cardiac condition has been stabilized and his
B.P., heart rate, urinary output and oxygen saturation has
been maintained," D.K. Sharma, Medical Superintendent,
A.I.I.M.S., said.
Sharma said that his condition continued to remain
critical but stable.
Doctors said despite little improvement in pulmonary
function, he still requires some respiratory support.
"He still requires some respiratory support. He has
spent a comfortable night in C.C.U. His blood sugar is also
under control," the medical superintendent said.
Dasmunsi was admitted to the A.I.I.M.S. Sunday with
complete left ventricular failure of the heart.
He is under close observation in Coronary Care Unit
(C.C.U.). A multi-discipline team of doctors led by cardiology
department head Dr V.K. Behl is treating him.
Behl said "the function of the left ventricle is to
pump blood efficiently to the body. This was not happening at
the time of his admission. He (Dasmunsi) was completely
breathless and had lung congestion."
Meanwhile, President Pratibha Patil, Maharashtra Chief
Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, Union Ministers Praful Patel,
Saifuddin Soz and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Jharkhand Chief
Minister Shibu Soren and Janta Dal (U) leader Sharad Yadav
visited the ailing minister at the hospital. PTI SWT
