INKA Reports Increase In Working Contract

Madiun, July 20 (ANTARA) - State-owned locomotive producer PT Industri Kereta Api (INKA) said it has received orders or working contracts valued at more than 1 trillion this year. PT INKA spokesman Fathor Rasid, told reporters here on Friday the contract value rose from only around Rp850 billion last year. "This indicates that the products of INKA have been better appreciated," Rasid said, adding the favorable trend is expected to continue. He said orders have come from various agencies or companies with the largest order from the railway directorate general accounting for 80% . Exports and orders from the private sector contributed 20%, he added. Among the working contracts received by INKA this year included for 50 units of air conditioned economic railway car from the railway directorate general valued at Rp175 billion, a unit of diesel railway car , 24 units of electric diesel railway car , 10 units of electric railway car and three units of locomotive "INKA has also received order from Malaysia to built 16 units of railway cars valued at almost US$5 million, and from Singapore for 20 units of cargo cars the types of "wheel wagon" and "flat wagon," Rasid. He said PT INKA has also received non railway orders including for 21 units of city bus on order from Jakarta transport company. He said the company is optimistic that it could carry out the entire orders this year . PT INKA has a workforce of around 1,000 people . The management of the company hopes that it would receive more orders in with the growing demand for mass transport facilities especially in Jakarta.
