NAM Closing Statement, Big Success For Iran: MP

Tehran, Sept 2, IRNA – An Iranian Parliamentarian said the final statement of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit was a big success for Iran. Esmaeil Kosari, a member of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, termed the decisions adopted during NAM meeting as appropriate. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, he said the statement which was adopted in a unanimous voice supported Iran’s right for peaceful nuclear technology. Noting that a number of important regional and international decisions were also made during the summit, he said the final statement focused on such issues as the unilateral sanctions, Syrian developments, fighting terrorism and reforms in the Untied Nations structure. The parliamentarian further said that hosting such an important meeting by Iran was another blow to the US and the Zionist Regime. He also said the media belonging to the hegemonic powers and the Zionist regime waged a full-scale propaganda war against Iran to insinuate that Tehran is not capable of managing such an event. They also attempted to prove that Iran is politically isolated but the presence of the leaders of the member states –which was the highest in number since the establishment of the organization- in the meeting revealed their hollow and baseless claims./end
