Prince Salman graces closing ceremony of World Sight Day 2 Riyadh

Speaking on the occasion, DR Al-Manie said several governmental and
non-governmental authorities including the Health Ministry, King
Faisal Specialist hospital, King Khalid Eye Specialist Hospital, the
Armed Forces Hospital, the Saudi Ophthalmology Society and King Saud
University have participated in the activities of the World Sight
Day.

He highlighted the great attention given by the government to the
health services, and said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the
pioneering countries at the regional and international arenas in the
field of combating blindness.

Dr Al-Manie noted that the Kingdom approved a plan for combating
blindness which included opening of hospitals for the treatment of
eye problems as well as increasing the number of eye surgeries which
are conducted at the hospitals.

On his part, Prince Abdulaziz bin Ahmad bin Abdulaziz said "I do
feel proud because the Kingdom has been one of the first countries
which joined the initiative of Vision 2020: the right to Sight."

Prince Abdulaziz thanked the parties which had extended support to
the activities of the World Sight Day.

This plan is internationally recognized, he added.
