President Attends Int’l Registration Of Gonbad-e Qabous Tower

Gonbad-e Kabous, Sept 10, IRNA – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that cultural heritage is the result of a centuries of efforts by a nation. The president made the remarks in a ceremony marking the international registration of the Iranian cultural heritage monument Gonbad-e Qabous (dome of Qabous) in the northern Golestan province on Sunday. Gonbad-e Qabous has been built 1006 years ago and it is the world’s tallest brick tower which located in the northern city of Gonbad-e Kabous. Referring to the fact that the neocolonialism has made the relationship between nations and culture and human nature to be cease, President Ahmadinejad said that one should witness the world’s situation and see what has become to it. “The first thing that colonialism and Satan do is to alienate the people with their cultural identity. Then they by portraying the landscape of a prosperous world they persuade the nations to cease having bonds with their past and join the colonialists,” he added. The president noted that humanity without culture is senseless while culture gives meaning to human aspect of humans. “The present conditions are such that millions of people come to this world and they bid farewell to the world without even tasting the humanity,” he added. President Ahmadinejad noted that the former US President George W. Bush was not acquainted with culture and he attacked Iraq and Afghanistan on lame excuses. He killed about one million people and injured many others during his attacks on those countries./end
