HEALTH MINISTER TO OBSERVE MENTAL HEALTH DAY IN BOGOR
Bogor, Indonesia, Oct 19 (ANTARA) - Indonesian Health Minister Siti Fadilah Supari was expected to observe the world mental health day at national level on Monday (20/10) in Bogor, some 60 kilometers south of Jakarta.
Chief of the Bogor administration's human relation section, Eddy Rusjadi, said here Sunday that Bogor has been chosen as the organizer of the world mental health day at national level because the pluvial town was running a pilot project for public health services at the level of community health center (Puskesmas).
"Mental health treatment is usually done by mental asylum al this long. but one of Puskesmas in Bogor has a mental specialist and also conducts medical treatment for the matter," said Eddy Rusjadi.
He said the existence of mental specialist in Sindangbarang Puskesmas, West Bogor, was thanks to cooperation between the Bogor Health office and one of mental health foundation in the town.
With the presence of the mental specialist at Puskesmas, mental problems could be treated at Puskesmas level.
In the commemoration of the 2005 world mental health day, Minister Siti Fadilah Supari said mental health was an integral part of health.
"Mental health is only just free from mental disorder, but also something that everyone needs, consisting of healthy feeling, happiness, also being able to overcome problems in life," she said.
A mentaly-healthy person is the one who can accept other people as they are, show positive attitude towards himself or herself and others, and being happy as a group member, she said.
The commemoration of the world mental health day at national level would also be attended by relevant national and local officials including West Java Deputy Governor Dede Yusuf.
