Officials' Self-confidence Due To Nation's Support: S.Leader

Tehran, Oct 14, IRNA – Islamic Republic official's self-confidence toward the international challenges and the internal problems is because of Islamic teachings and nation's support, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said here on Saturday. The Supreme Leader made the remarks Saturday morning while addressing the enthusiastic gathering of local people in the city of Esfarayen in the northeastern province of North Khorassan. 'Enemy wants Iranian nation disappointed and languished and uses its propaganda machines to achieve this goal but of course, they will not succeed; enemies want to take our self-confidence and humiliate our Iranian Islamic history but our history proves that we have been a model of progress for others in the past and we have made progress; the Iranian nation is talented enough to achieve progress in various areas.' Grand Ayatollah Khamenei noted that progressing forward is not by itself a goal and it should also involve justice. 'Many countries including the US are progressed but social discriminations bother people and the gap between the poor and the rich is increasing; Islamic Republic has done a lot to decrease the social discrimination but there is still a long way for the Islamic Republic officials to fulfill the kind of social justice which Islam wants.' He added that enemies can not impede the way of Iranian nation's progress and all their anti-Iranian plots are doomed to defeat. 'Of course, the nations should be always vigilant toward the enemy plots.' The Ayatollah praised the bravery of the local people and their adherence to learning and promoting the Holy Quran. Stressing that the current situation in Esfarayen and other provincial cities is not comparable to that of the pre-revolution years, the Supreme Leader said the region has yet to further develop in future. The supreme leader further stressed that the Iranian nation has the capacity to become a role model for others in steadily moving towards progress and advancement. Ayatollah Khamenei hailed Iran's astonishing progress in different fields, and said, 'Progress has no limits and borders and it should be continued so that the Iranian nation will become a role model in different aspects.' Despite the rules enshrined in the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) entitling every member state, including Iran, to the right of uranium enrichment, Tehran is now under four rounds of UN Security Council sanctions and several western embargos for turning down West's calls to give up its right of uranium enrichment. Tehran has dismissed the West's demand as politically tainted and illogical, stressing that sanctions and pressures merely consolidate Iranians' national resolve to continue the path. Iran has made huge achievements in various fields of science and technology, from nuclear knowledge to stem cell and medicine production as well as nanotechnology. Iranian Health Minister Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi announced in August that Iran is now able to synthesize 15 kinds of radiomedicines inside the country, stressing that the achievement was made due to the efforts made by the country's nuclear scientists. 'Due to the efforts made by the Iranian scientists and the nuclear scientists martyred (by the enemies), we have 15 radiomedicines in our country which are vital for providing diagnosis and treatment services to the patients, specially cancerous patients,' she said in a ceremony in Tehran at the time. Also, in January, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in a ceremony in Tehran unveiled 6 new types of home-made medicines used for treating various kinds of diseases. The Iranian president unveiled 2 new types of drugs and 4 types of raw materials for treating osteoporosis, hemophilia and neurological, skin and muscle diseases and breast cancer. Iranian scientists had also in 2011 managed to produce a new type of anti-cancer drug using the venom of reptiles like snakes and scorpions. 'After several years of research and studies on a combination of snake and scorpion venom, the anti-cancer drug was produced in Iran,' Abbas Zare', the Director of the Venomous Animals Department of Iran's Razi Vaccine and Serum Research Institute, told reporters in October 2011. 'This anti-cancer drug has been produced from snake and scorpion venom after 10 years of research work and has been extracted from the fat (peptide) of such animals,' he added./end
