Embassy: Syria Issue Has No Negative Impact On Tehran-Ankara Ties

Ankara, Oct 18, IRNA – Iranian Embassy in Ankara here Wednesday rejected negative impact of Syria diplomacy on friendly relations between Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Turkey. In a protest letter to the managing director of the Turkish monthly ‘Middle East Trade’ the Iran Embassy said that the article published by the magazine on Iran-Turkey ties is untrue. The publication said in its October-September edition quoting a university instructor that Iran-Turkey relations have undergone a change due to differences of diplomacy on Syria. The letter said that Iran has always used all its capacities for developing ties with the regional states, has always stood by them in hard times and does its best to help establish peace and stability in the region. The Embassy also said that Tehran-Ankara ties have developed in recent years as Iran has become the biggest commercial partner of Turkey in the Islamic world. The two governments hold regular consultations which culminated by Turkish Prime Minister Recep Teyyep Erdogan’s visit to Tehran and that of First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi to Ankara on Erdogan's invitation. Trade stood at 17 billion dollars, which is projected to exceed $20 billion in 2012, it said./end
