Ghobash dedicates Golden Award of UAE pavilion at Zaragoza to Khalifa

Abu Dhabi, Oct 22, 2008 (WAM) - Labour Minister and Chairman of the National Media Council (NMC) Saqr Ghobash has dedicated the Golden Award won by the UAE pavilion at the Expo Zaragoza 2008 which staged from June to September in Spain to President H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai H. H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
The UAE pavilion won the Golden Award for the best design and decor and high quality of the documentary on water and sustainable development, the theme of the expo. Over the three-month event, around one million visitors toured the UAE pavilion from June 14 to September 14.
"The high standard which the UAE exhibited at the Expo Zaragoza in Spain this year was made possible by the unstinting support from and the wise leadership of President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan and his brother, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum," Ghobash said.
“The UAE pavilion has topped the list of the most attractive and successful pavilions at the Expo Zaragoza thanks to the sound directives and persistent follow up by Foreign Minister HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan,'' Ghobash said during a reception held today at the Labour Ministry during which he received the Award from Abdullah Al Aidarous, Director of the Pavilion..
“The Award is an international recognition of the staggering record of achievements made by the UAE prudent leadership,” he added.
He indicated that the UAE would continue to participate at such international events to present its development model to the world, attract more investment, businessmen and tourists and forge stronger relations of friendship and cooperation with other countries. The minister hoped the 60 billion Yuan UAE pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010 would scoop more prestigious honours.
Ghobash presented certificates of appreciation to the pavilion taskforce, UAE Ambassador to Spain Mohammed Sultan Al Qurtasi and Spanish Ambassador to UAE Manuel Pineiro.
The function was attended by Ibrahim Al Abed, Commissioner General of the UAE Pavilion and Director General of the National Media Council (NMC), Salim Al Amri, Deputy Director General of the NMC and a number of senior NMC officials.
