D-8 Summit In Islamabad On Nov. 19-21

Islamabad, Nov 1, IRNA – Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, currently in Cairo, will deliver personal invitation of President Asif Zardari to Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi to attend D-8 Summit scheduled for Nov 19-21 in Islamabad, officials said Wednesday. The D-8 groups developing countries with large Muslim populations including Bangladesh, Egypt, Iran, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey. The Foreign Minister, visiting Egypt as special envoy of the Pakistani president, will also deliver a message of felicitations to the first ever democratically-elected president of Egypt, an official statement said. President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed keen interest in inviting his Egyptian counterpart to the summit. The two leaders will meet at Islamabad to discuss the strengthening of the bilateral relations between the two countries. The Foreign Minister will also meet her Egyptian counterpart Mohamed Kamel Amr to discuss the ongoing bilateral relations between the two countries. The two leaders will also discuss the forthcoming Joint Ministerial Commission Meeting and the ways to further augment the brotherly relations between the two countries. During her sojourn, the Pakistani Foreign Minister will meet the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby to discuss the stance of Pakistan on various international and regional issues of the Arab world. A delegation of Egyptian businessmen and entrepreneurs will also attend the D-8 Summit in Islamabad to explore new investment opportunities in the growing Pakistani economy. Egypt and Pakistan enjoy decades-old, cordial and brotherly political, economic, military and cultural relations since the inception of Pakistan in 1947, the statement said./end
