RI EMBASSY, MALAYSIA AUTHORITIES TO ISSUE 150,000 PASSPORTS FOR MIGRANT WORKERS

Jakarta, Oct 24 (ANTARA) -The Indonesian embassy and the Malaysian authorities had agreed to issue 150,000 passports for Indonesian migrant workers in Sabah, Malaysia, spokesman for the Indonesian foreign affairs ministry Teuku Faizasyah said here Friday.

"Both parties have come to an agreement to issue stay permits in Malaysia, " Teuku said.

Asked about Malaysia's motive to support the migrants' needs, Teuku explained that it was due to the Malaysian employees' requests not to deport the Indonesian migrant workers.
"They seemed to enjoy working with Indonesians," the spokesman said.
