LIPI, 12 MUSICIANS LAUNCH ALBUM OF SONGS
Yogyakarta, Oct 25 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) and 12 national musicians launched an album of compiled songs themed disaster on the occasion of the disaster alert IV national exhibition at the Yogyakarta smart gallery on Saturday.
Among the musicians are senior musician Franky Sahilatua known as a staunch critic of environmental damage and young musicians from the White Shoes and The Couples Company music groups.
Some of the musicians were familiar with and had taken part in disaster alert campaigns organized by LIPI, the institute's spokesperson, Irina Rafliana, said.
Pepenk from the Naif music group said the songs he contributed to the album were old stock.
"But some of them also contributed new songs to the album," he said.
The idea of making the album emerged two years ago but it could be realized only in early 2007, he said.
"The process of making the album master also dragged on to nine months from six months as originally planned," he said.
The album could not be completed as planned due to a lack of coordination among the musicians who had different characters, he said.
During the launch, the musicians sang together a song on disaster alert.
