United Airlines inaugurates Dubai - Washington D.C. service
Dubai, Oct 29, 2008 (WAM) -United Airlines yesterday inaugurated its new non-stop daily service from Dubai to Washington D.C.
Cutting the ribbon to inaugurate the flight were U.S. Consul General for Dubai Paul Sutphin, Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths and United's Senior Vice President for Airport Operations, Cargo and United Express, Scott Dolan.
The new service is set to offer Middle East travellers access to a network of services across the United States.
From Washington Dulles, customers can then fly on to over 80 destinations across the U.S., Canada and the Caribbean, including Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New York and San Francisco.
United's Washington hub offers over 200 daily flights to destinations across the U.S. It is also a key point for many United international flights serving the airport from destinations around the world.
Commenting on the new route U.S. Consul General for Dubai Paul Sutphin said: "United's new direct service between Dubai and Washington, D.C. is a very welcome new option in travel between the UAE and the United States.
''It also serves to confirm the growing importance of Dubai as a destination, and as a regional and global hub that is being used by an increasing number of American travelers." Welcoming United to Dubai, Paul Griffiths, Dubai Airports CEO added: "It is an important development not just for Dubai Airports and United, but also for the hundreds of thousands of people who travel between Washington, the political capital of the world's largest economy, and Dubai - the commercial capital of the UAE and an international hub for business and trade.
''Bilateral ties between the US and the UAE go back a long way, and these will be further bolstered with the new service, bringing great cultural and commercial benefits to the two countries." "This new route further strengthens our presence in the Middle East by providing customers with a second daily service from the region," said Scott Dolan, United's senior vice president Airport Operations, Cargo and United Express. "The growing commerce between the United States and Middle East creates new revenue opportunities for the company."
