GG to head overseas for Remembrance Day

Quentin Bryce will head to France to mark Remembrance Day as part of her first
overseas trip as governor-general.
"The governor-general has been invited to participate in an international ceremony
in Verdun on November the 11th," a statement from Government House said.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy will preside over the ceremony.
Ms Bryce laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier at the Australian War
Memorial on Wednesday, ahead of her visit to France where she is due to arrive on
November 8.
The governor-general's trip includes a visit to the Australian National Monument and
Victoria Primary School at Villers-Bretonneux.
The French village is home to hundreds of World War I Australian war graves.
"The visits commemorate the 46,000 Australians who died during the two-and-a-half
years of battle on the Western Front," the statement said.
Ms Bryce will also visit Malta and Singapore before returning home.
