FNC Speaker meets Polish Parliament Speaker
Abu Dhabi, Oct 30, 2008 (WAM) - Speaker of the Federal National Speaker Abdul Aziz Al Ghurair yesterday met with Marshal (speaker) of the Polish Sejm (Parliament) Bronisaw Komorowski and other members At the meeting which was attended by members of UAE delegation and Polish MPs, the two sides exchanged views on issues of mutual concern.
Komorowski expressed his admiration at the rapid democratic development taking place in the UAE to realize the ambitions of its citizens. He also expressed admiration at the UAE's political experience and the success of the federal system and the peaceful coexistence among different faiths, cultures and nationalities.
He stressed that the UAE is an essential strategic partner for Poland in the Middle East in general and in Iraq and Afghanistan in particular where it provides support to Warsaw's efforts to keep security and stability. He hailed the UAE's decision to appoint an ambassador to Warsaw; a move he said would further promote bilateral relations to the best interests of the peoples of the two countries.
He further said he would spare no effort to get the Parliament's approval of the four agreements signed between UAE and Poland.
For his part, Al Ghurair noted that Polish capitals have the opportunity to tap development projects in the UAE.
The UAE, he said, is attractive to Poland's ship building companies and automakers to an attractive investment environment.
Later, Al Ghurair met with Bogdan Micha Borusewicz, Speaker of the Polish Senate, who expressed his country's support to the UAE's peaceful stance on the issue of its three islands occupied by Iran.
He praised UAE's role in maintaining regional stability and welcomed its decision to open an embassy in Warsaw.
