Avian influenza outbreak in Sayaboury
(KPL) There was an outbreak of avian influenza, H5N1 strain, in Done Ngeun, Sayaboury district, Sayaboury province.
The outbreak was confirmed by the Veterinary Centre, Livestock and Fisheries Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, last Thursday.
Following the occurrence of avian influenza, the local authorities designated red zone markers for seven villages, Done Ngeun, Done Mai, Boung, Thin, Simeuang, Phapoune and Keng and 13 villages were designated yellow zone markers and it means that all the latter villages would be under close surveillance.
The authorities had culled 1,400 poultry and 20 birds.
