Japanese government further grants aid to Laos

(KPL) Japanese government granted 963 million kip (US$ 112,596) to the construction of infrastructures in two provinces of Sekong and Luang Namtha.
The aid will be spent on the construction of a bridge with a concrete waste water pipe at Ban Vang, Thateng district in Sekong province, is a total worth of about 700 million kip (US$ 83,205) and irrigation construction, worth over 250 million kip (US$ 29,391) in Luang Namtha province.
The signing ceremony of grant aid held on 10 November in Vientiane Capital, signed by Japanese Ambassador to Laos, Mr. Masaaki Miyashita and Deputy Head of Bridge and Road Service of Sekong province, Mr. Keopasith Keomanyvong. Witnessed by Head of Agriculture and Forestry Service of the Luang Namtha province, Mr Khamlak Saydara and relevant officials.
For the first project is to build a bridge with an-18 m long and 4.5 m wide spans over Houay Thone river between Ban Vang and Ban Chakalith in sekong province, which will begin to construct early 2009 and complete within 12 months. This bridge is capacity to support weight about 10 tons. The construction of this project is a part of triangle development project (Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia).
The second project is an irrigation system in Nalae district, Luang Namtha province with its capacity supply water to agriculture production in three villages namely Ban Thaluang, Ban Sinsay and Ban Chamkeo.
