Rohani Confers With S.Leader Prior To Departure To NY

Tehran, Sept 23, IRNA – President Hassan Rohani met on Sunday with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei prior to his departure to New York to attend the UN General Assembly. The Supreme Leader wished success for the president during the mission. Iran has undertaken leadership of Non-Aligned Movement, the major world body after the United Nations. The NAM member states have called for restructuring the United Nations and the Security Council in particular. The NAM leaders made it clear at Tehran Summit that the current composition of the Security Council proved to have major flaws failing to guarantee security of the developing nations. NAM leaders have called for permanent representation at United Nations Security Council with veto power to have equal status as the same as the five veto powers, the US, UK, France, China and Russia. In addition to delivering speech to the General Assembly, President Rohani will give a lecture to NAM Conference on Disarmament./end
